Dale College Boys’ High School is a public day and boarding school for boys in King William’s Town, Eastern Cape. The school faces the Amatole Mountains and has an attractive junior school in impressive Herbert Baker buildings. Dale College caters for boys from Grade 8 to Grade 12 and currently has 550 students. The high school has two hostels, one for the juniors and one for the seniors. Dale College is known for its excellent academic, sporting, and cultural achievements.


Dale College was established in 1861 as the Public Undenominational School for Boys. In 1877, a foundation stone was laid by the Governor of the Cape, Sit Bartle Frere, and the school was renamed Dale College after Sir Langham Dale, the Superintendant-General of Education for the Cape Colony. The school celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2011.


The Matric pass rate has been in the high 90s for the last few years. The school motto is Per Ardua Ad Astra which means “Through Struggle to the Stars”.
