The tranquil Agatha Mountains are home to Sherwood's Country House , a small Victorian country house situated 13 km above Tzaneen in the Limpopo Province .Peace and tranquility are assured. 6 en-suite rooms of which 2 are Standard Classic rooms,2 Classic rooms and 2 Deluxe Classic rooms .Some rooms have fireplaces ,private verandahs . All rooms have coffee and tea facility ,en-suite bath and shower or bath or shower, satellite television and more.
Tea is served in the gazebo .Relax at the swimming pool during our lovely hot summer days .In the winters enjoy our fireplaces . Fully licensed bar available .Set menu dinners are served in the dining room in the evenings . Our morning breakfasts are served with farm fresh produce .We are 1 hours drive from the Kruger National Park . Day visits in the area available.

THINGS TO DO & SEE AT SHERWOOD’S & SURROUNDS:

There are several short scenic walks from the country house including:-
* A walk to King’s Walden garden .You may either walk from Sherwood’s or take a short drive to the entrance and then spend a good few hours strolling and admiring the spectacular views through the formal garden which forms part of the ‘botanical route’ in the area.
* A ‘bird walk’ through cultured and indigenous forest around the dam at Sherwood’s.
* An ‘evening stroll’ around our main house , for a breathtaking country view of the milky way.

Birdying enthusiasts will hopefully be able to see a large variety including ‘Giant, Pied Pigmy Woodland & Malachite Kingfishers, Purple Crested Loerie, several types of Woodpecker, Sunbirds, Oriole and even Raptors including Giant Eagle Owl, Wood Owl, Martial Eagle, Black Eagle and several Kestrels and Hawks. Rare species, the Bathawk.

Small game in the area include Bushpig, Bushbuck, Porcupine, Meerkat, Civet, Spotted Genet, Vervet Monkeys, a rare sighting of two Samango Monkeys and perhaps you may hear the bark of Charma Baboon close by.

The Rooikat Hiking Trail is 1.5 km from Sherwood’s (Sherwood’s to New Agatha Forestry Station ). This 4 hour hike takes in both cultivated and indigenous forests in a mountain setting and ends on the bottom of the valley where you find a beautiful stretch of ‘Bob’s River’ with refreshing crystal clear water,large rock pools and waterfalls – the ideal backdrop for a packed picnic lunch (provided by Sherwood’s on request)and a lazy sunny afternoon spent swimming in pristine privacy.
