Die basics is in plek, maar dit is al.

Baie basies, maar skoon. Niemand het ons vertel van parkering en gedink ons moet buite in straat parkeer. Te veel goed word op die perseel ingedruk/te veel aktiwiteite.

Much better than I ever expected.

The most striking thing about the Brooklyn Guesthouses is the size of the grounds and the quality and decor of the house we used. The property stretches from Murray to Anderson street with a great garden.

Die slaapkamer aan my verskaf se binnemure is van hout en ek kon elke geluid en snork van die buurkamers hoor. Ek kan nie verstaan dat 'n 3-ster verblyf so kamer kan aanbied nie.

Location is excellent, garden beautiful, room is okay.

The bath was dirty. It was dirty behind the small table next to the bed. The curtains was brown and not white anymore and it was very dirty. There isn't a light in the hallway to the room. We had to look where we go.

Die bad was vuil. Agter die klein tafeltjie langs die bet was dit vuil. Die kantgordyne was bruin en nie meer wit nie, asook die gordyne was uiters vuil. Daar is nie 'n lig in die gangetjie na die kamer nie. Ons moes mooi fokus waar ons loop.

Het beter verwag.

Die plek kort afronding, die badkamer in ons kamer se bad het my gegril, die stort is vreeslik glad, en daar was geen hangers is die baie kaste nie, hulle sal my nooit weer sien nie! Die eienaars van die plek het aan etenstafel met mekaar baklei, baie onprofesioneel!

The accommodation was shabby. Totally not as it appears online!

Complained to management who offered complimentary night. Prefer to have received feedback that all the items that I pointed out were addressed. Bathroom needs paint. Nowhere to hang towels.

Baie teleurstellend om die minste te sê.

Ek het gevra om verskuif te word van die kamer wat ek die eerste keer gegee is, aangesien dit ver van die ontvangsgeriewe was en die houtwerk was so verwring dat vensters nie toegemaak kon word nie - baie onveilig in vandag se tyd. Ek het die sogenaamde Honeymoon Suite gekry, wat donker en somber was met baie ou dekor en vuil matte. A very disappointing stay to say the least.

I asked to be moved from the room I was first given, as it was far from the reception facilities and the woodwork was so warped that windows could not be closed - very insecure in this day and age. I was given the so-called Honeymoon Suite, which was dark and dreary with very old decor and filthy carpets. The bathroom needed a serious renovation - bath surface all scratched, shower no better, and a dead plant between two grotty basins. The curtains and blinds were so badly hung and old and broken, that they could not be pulled up. There was a large watercolour on the wall with huge mould patches on it, and the two mirrors in the bathroom looked as if the frames were rotting. If I was spending my honeymoon there, it would have been an awful experience. Breakfast was disappointing as it looked as if no one cared to produce good food. No special teas, no decent coffee, and everything in warmers. I am a decorator and have done guesthouses in Cape Town and Franschhoek, where the quality of decor, cleanliness and food is excellent for the same price. The photos on the website are very misleading and how the stars are awarded is a mystery.

Gerieflik en goed geleë.

Het baie welkom gevoel.

Het saam met my bejaarde ouers hier tuisgegaan, dit was baie gerieflik en die personeel was baie vriendelik en het ons baie tuis laat voel.

Probably the worst experience we've ever had.

We made a booking at Brooklyn Guesthouses for the 20th of December to be near the Blue Train Station for the 21st. We didn't want to race from Roodepoort and wanted to be well rested. A room was provided. It is situated above a kitchen with burglar bars on all the windows. If the iron gate at the top is closed and a fire were to break out, we wouldn't be able to get our. Our biggest complaint though, and something totally unacceptable, was the fact that my daughter woke up with lice in her bed. When we switched the light on the entire mattress and under the pillows was covered with running lice. It was terrible. 01:00 in the morning. We couldn't go anywhere else. Probably slept on the single bed for about 2 hours. There was also a bidet toilet which smelled really bad. This guesthouse's stars should be taken away. We want our money back and are also complaining to the Tourism Bureau.

Daar was ook 'n oop bidet toilet wat vreeslike stink ruike in die badkamer en kamer gelaat het. Die gastehuis se sterre moet weggevat word. *Ons soek ons geld terug en gaan dit ook aangee by Toeriste graderings bureau.*

Neglected needs urgent maintenance.

Big disappointment to arrive at a place that looks nothing like the pictures. It looks tired and unkempt, just a new coat of paint will make a huge difference. The headboards are so loose that you wake up everytime you turn around at night - one of the switches of the bedlamps didn't work correctly so my head kept knocking it on and off during the course of the night. All the lights didn't work and there were no plug for the light at the desk. The toilet had a bad smell and the tap at the teeny basin was loose. Old dust on the skirting boards. I'm sorry, not a nice experience at all and I won't recommend this guesthouse to anyone.

Ons moes vir ses weke in Pretoria bly, maar het na drie weke hier uitgetrek na 'n ander gastehuis.

Daar is slegs 4 kamers met lugversorging. Kamerdiens bestaan nie. Die huis waarin ek gebly het, het nie eens 'n telefoon nie, praat nie eers oor kamerdiens nie. Die onderhoud van die plek is baie swak en die blinding voor die venster van die kamer waar ek gebly het, het neergestort op my skryftafel met al my elektroniese toerusting op. Ongelukkig is die plek ook nie skoon nie. Die matjies in die badkamer het so gestink dat ek dit buite uitgesit het. Die handdoeke is nie vars nie. Daarom het ons uitgetrek na 3 weke en by 'n ander gastehuis ingeboek vir 'n verdere drie weke. Die nagpersoneel was egter baie behulpsaam en verdien 'n pluimpie.

Baie dankie vir die terugvoer, ons waardeer ons gaste se terugvoer, want dit is waarop ons ons kwaliteit bestuur.
Ons waardeer ook die geleentheid om ons kant van die saak te stel.
Ons is ‘n 3 ster gastehuis met bekostigbare tariewe en ons bied ‘n wye reeks dienste aan soos bv, ‘n restaurant op die perseel, wasgoed diens, aandetes, kroeg diens, gratis internet en parkering.

Die kliënt ter sprake, en haar geselskap, het vir die volle tydperk waarvoor hulle bespreek het by ons tuisgegaan – 31 Januarie tot 21 Februarie. Ons het hulle tegemoetgekom met ons spesiale afslag pakket wat eintlik net vanaf 15 Desember tot 15 Januarie geldig was.

Die kliënt het die kamers self gekies uit ‘n paar opsies wat aan haar voorgehou is. Al ons kamers het dakwaaiers, maar slegs vier het lugreëlings – sy het twee van hulle gekies. Die kamers is geleë in een van ons nuwe huise wat nie telefoon in die kamers het nie, sy het dit so aanvaar.

Ons linne word elke derde dag geruil en skoon handdoeke word elke tweede dag voorsien – ons kan slegs die probleem aanspreek as dit by bestuur aangemeld word. Wat die diens aanbetref, kry ons personeel daagliks komplimente van nasionale en internasionale gaste oor vriendelike en hulpvaardige diens. Ons adverteer nie kamerdiens nie, maar ons personeel sal onmiddellik na ‘n kamer gaan om kliënte te assisteer met enige redelike versoeke.

Teleurstellend!

Die geboue is ouerig en die gebrek aan onderhoud is sigbaar. Binnekant is dit nie mooi skoongemaak nie. Daar is spinnerakke wat al langer as 'n maand daar om een van die gordyn reëlings bokant bed sigbaar is. Die "roman" blindings is jare laas skoongemaak en, indien wel, is dit alweer bruin van die vuil, veral in badkamer. Matrasse nie gemaklik nie.

It was neat and the location was perfect for what I needed.

Ek sal die Luxury Rooms aanbeveel, die standard rooms is baie standaard. Pragtige plek met bome en water, voel behoorlik soos 'n see-huisie (al wat kort is die see).
