Calvinia Magic Garden offers a relaxed, free-style setting and is situated in Calvinia, about half way between Cape Town and Upington. The establishment is an extension and expression of the owners art. It encompasses a diverse range of expression, including music, sculpture and painting created and organized in a way to soothe the soul.

The accommodation consists of 5 rooms and a glamping option, 2 of which can accommodate 3 guests in each, and 3 of which can accommodate 2 guests in each. Each room has an en-suite bathroom. Additionally, the Zen room comprises a bar fridge, microwave, and tea- and coffee- making facilities, and the Orgone Room comprises a fully equipped kitchen.

Entertainment for families and groups in the form of drumming, jewellery making, balancing stones, charcoal drawings and painting are available on request.

This landscape is periodically plagued by drought and scorching sunshine yet it has been astonishingly blessed with some of the most dramatic displays of natural beauty. Nowhere is this more visible than in Namaqualand, one of the six floral kingdoms of the world. In spring, the plains burst into flower creating a breathtaking carpet of brilliant colour. The Akkerdam Nature reserve consist mostly of the Hantam Mountain. Guests can explore the rustic area by one of the various hiking trails that the area offers. The 2 km, hour long, Kareeboom route was designed with senior citizens in mind and takes guests along the Hantam Mountain. The Sterboom route takes guests along the easterly side of the Hantam Mountain and up to the Plato. This route takes approximately 6 to 7 hours to complete. For the avid bird watchers the Kareedam serves as an oasis for the migrating birds. Birdwatchers can expect up to 65 different bird species at this reserve.
