Die Ou Pastorie offers accommodation in a renovated quaint sandstone building in the garden of the old Pastorie of the NG Church in Fouriesburg, Free State. In days gone by the cottage was once the stables for the Vicar's horses.
Die Ou Stal unit is an open-plan cottage ideal for a couple with 2 small children and is comprised of a double bed in the bedroom, twin beds in the living area, an equipped kitchenette and a shower room. A TV with local channels is provided and a DVD player. Guests are welcome to make use of the spacious garden with braai facilities, and an outdoor seating area.
Just across the lawn from Die Stal is Die Stoepkamer. It is a comfortable bedroom with a queen-size bed and single bed. The Stoepkamer used to be the office of the minister of the NG Church. It is comprised of a separate outside entrance on to the wraparound verandah which offers mountain views, an en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower, tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge and microwave. Guests have access to an outdoor braai area. Electric blankets and heaters are also provided. .There is a TV with full DSTV channels. It is not self catering.
Die Pastorie Voorkamer is a lovely large private room leading off the verandah of the main house. It has a double bed and an en-suite bathroom. Leading off it is a small library with a three quarter bed. There is a private balcony for sitting on with a view of the mountains. There is a TV with full DSTV channels. There is a fridge, microwave oven and tea and coffee making facilities but it is not self-catering. A braai can be arranged.
Die Ou Pastorie is a just a short walk into town, where there are restaurants and pubs. The Lesotho border is a 10-minute drive away, and the town of Ficksburg is 48 km away and is home to the annual Cherry Festival held in November, the longest running festival in South Africa. Meiringskloof Nature Park is within close proximity and offers activities such as horse riding, swimming, hiking, mountain climbing, quad biking, and cycling. The town of Fouriesburg is surrounded by the Maluti Mountains and is a typical eastern Free State town with its rolling hills and wide open plains. Just a few kilometres away is the charming village of Clarens, just outside the Golden Gate National Park. Please be aware there can be issues with the water supply in Fouriesburg.
