Elephant Rest Forest Cottage and Cabin is a charming establishment situated on the edge of the ancient indigenous Knysna forest. The area offers some of the Garden Routes most exquisite hiking trails to untouched waterfalls, and challenging mountain biking routes; while the long, open beaches and clean surf breaks of Buffalo Bay are less than 25 km away.
The Forest Cottage can accommodate up to 6 guests and comprises 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and an open-plan kitchen and living area. The Cosy Cabin can accommodate up to 4 guests and comprises 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, and an under cover open-plan outdoor kitchen and living area. Both the cottage and the cosy cabin have there own great braai area in the gardens.
The establishment makes a concerted effort to be environmentally conscious by creating as little waste as possible, they recycle what they can and compost all organic waste. They will provide bins and remove organic waste regularly for the chickens on-site, so no extra hassle for you. Your host encourages guests to use biodegradable toiletries, there is a locally made option available in the cottage.
Guests are well to explore the sunshine food garden and stroll into the small orchard where you might be lucky to sample some fruits of the season. Many nooks and quiet spaces are tucked into the corners of our sprawling gardens, perfect for reading, resting and bird watching. If you're lucky you'll catch a glimpse of the elusive Knysna Loerie. On a hot day, a plunge in the farm dam is a welcome relief.
