We just wanted to visit Meiringspoort. The history of the area is so wonderful.

Amazing! The hosts went out of their way to make us comfortable. They opened their personal garage to lock up our 7 motorcycles for the night, made a personalized braai for us, and sat around telling us stories of the hotel and the area. It's been in the family for generations, so the stories are funny, sad, scary, and true, mostly. Rooms are comfortable and all you need is provided.

Welcoming, wonderful and homey.

It was such a treat to stay at Hotel De Rust and experience this time capsule of the Klein Karoo. This was so much more wonderful than simply staying in an Airbnb – our hosts were super engaging and friendly, but also very relaxed with our comings and goings. They gave us plenty of "local tips" as to what to do and where to go while we were there. To me, there's only one place I'll stay when visiting De Rust again!

Heerlike hotelverblyf met lekker kuier, kos en gesels.

Wat 'n heerlike ervaring. Plattelandse gasvryheid, ou hotel pragtig herstel - alles binne uit 'n ander tyd en era, maar alles so mooi opgepas en mens voel sommer tuis. Baie nostalgies - hotel se kroeg die plek om die plaaslike mense te ontmoet. Lekker gesels, lekker kos, baie nostalgie. 'n Definitiewe plek vir 'n aand of twee, 'n moet-stopplek om terug te gaan in tyd, maar tog alles modern ook te ervaar. Ons gaan beslis weer, wil nog baie in die omgewing verken en beleef! 'n Ware Karoo-juweel!

What a lovely experience. Rural hospitality, old hotel beautifully restored - everything inside from another time and era, but everything so well looked after and you feel right at home. Very nostalgic - hotel bar the place to meet the local people. Good conversation, good food, lots of nostalgia. A definite place for an evening or two, a must stop to go back in time, yet experience all things modern as well. We will definitely go again, want to explore and experience a lot more in the area! A true Karoo gem!
