After the past few days of traveling through wide open spaces and staying in awesome, remote lodgings, Lagoon Chalets in Walvis was a reality check. The reception, which attended to about 40 chalets and 12 campsites in the "village" was very impersonal and abrupt in their responses. Something I suppose "you become" with so many demanding customers, although they were not very busy during our stay, so no real excuse. The apartments were shabby and in need of an upgrade, very small with a "semi-equipped" impractical kitchenette where the fridge stood in the sitting room. The sitting room's soft furniture was covered and sealed in plastic which made it unpleasant to sit on and a table if it would fit, would have made it more comfortable when eating. My reason for selecting Lagoon Chalets was their on-site laundry as I reasoned that, after 8 days of traveling we needed to do some laundry. In hindsight, such a pity as most venues could easily have assisted us, and clothes dried so quickly overnight in the dry conditions of Namibia. Walvis, the town, had good tourist attractions, ample shopping facilities and opportunities to have the car washed. This is a venue, and town, that I will not be visiting again.

Everything you need in Walvis Bay.

Clean, well kept accommodation that is central and has everything that you need on site. The laundrette is amazing for travelling longer periods of time. Best to get tokens during office hours though. The only negative is that there are no cleaning goods inside the chalets, so you need your own washing up soap and sponges. We weren't sure if it was removed our just the standard. Overall, excellent and everything you need.
