Description

The Mountain Pondokkie is an old stone cottage originating from around 1900. Set on the Falls Fish Farm in the beautiful, indigenous valley of Schoemanskloof, in Mpumalanga en route to the Kruger National Park.

The cottage can accommodate up to 8 guests and comprises 1 downstairs bedroom, 2 upstairs loft rooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, dining area, and a living area. The main downstairs bedroom contains a king-size bed and features an en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower, toilet, and washbasin. A solar geyser supplies hot water to this bathroom.

The 2 loft rooms are located upstairs, above the lounge, and are accessed via steep stairs. These sleeping areas are curtained off, but privacy is limited. The first loft area contains a queen-size bed and the second loft area contains a king-size bed and opens to a deck. 2 additional guests can be accommodated on a queen-size bed in the lounge area. The second bathroom is fitted with a bath, shower, toilet and washbasin, with hot water being supplied either by solar geyser or an electric geyser when needed.

The kitchen is equipped with a fridge-freezer, gas stove and oven. The dining area has a 6-seater dining table and chairs, and a small wood stove for chilly nights. The lounge contains seating and a fireplace.

Outside, there is a covered patio with seating and incredible views. A wheelbarrow braai is available that can easily be moved under cover if it rains. Water is provided by a mountain stream, and hot water is provided by a solar geyser and an electric geyser when necessary. A water filter is provided for drinking water. The cottage has a garden and is surrounded by an electric fence to keep out buck and other wild animals.
