Suidster is an elegant hideaway at the foot of the Langeberg mountains, on a 110-hectare off-the-grid farm between Barrydale and Montagu. Nestled among pristine fynbos flora, Suidster offers accommodation in 2 self-catering cottages that provide uninterrupted views across the valleys, offering the perfect retreat for discerning travellers looking for refuge in nature.

The 2 luxury cottages, Poortjies and Dwarriega, are elegantly furnished self-sustainable units that have been furnished with attention to detail.

Poortjies is named after the Poortjieskloofdam, only a few kilometres down the road towards Barrydale; the stone used to build the dam wall came from the farm and you can still see what's left of the old quarry on the farm. The quarry created a lush little micro-climate teaming with life. Dwarriega gets its name from the ephemeral Droë-Dwarriega river that runs across the farm past the cottage. If you're lucky, following some good rain, you may see it flowing, filled with tadpoles and life.

Each cottage can accommodate up to 2 guests and has an open-plan layout. Each cottage features a king-size bed, a ceiling fan, an en-suite bathroom with a free-standing bath and a shower, a fireplace, and a kitchen that is fitted with a stove, microwave, fridge, cutlery, and crockery. Each cottage opens to a deck with outdoor furniture and its own outdoor shower. In addition, each cottage has its own KolKol wood-fired hot tub.

Suidster was built as a self-sustainable hideaway in the Klein Karoo, relying on the sun for power and the soil for food. The cottages and the main house run from solar and are completely off-the-grid. Guests have access to braai facilities.

There is a lovely 5 km trail starting at the pile of stones near the top of the main road that runs past the cottages to the main house.
