The Bostokelos Guest House and Spa

Didn't have a very good home.

Positive points: Very good service. Negative points: Spa is much more expensive than the one in Centurion. No water during our stay due to forced shutdown of reservoir. The bedding was torn here and there but clean. The spa and restaurant are not on site, but staff do drive you around where you want to be. We were very unsure about the safety in the area. Not good parking for guests to come and go, no gate remote/key to open by yourself to come in in the evening, have to call staff awake to come and unlock.

Equivalent of AirBnB for single person.

"Lock up and go". No rails or built-in cupboards for hanging clothes. Live out of suitcase. No mirror at toilet sink, bath, bed and toilet with sink in one room without partition. No windows except sliding door at exterior entrance. Suitable for biker with backpack, water bottle and camera bag. No separate car parking, residents park behind each other on single sheet at entrance gate (potentially keeping street walkers out at night). Free standing two meter high mirror on the wall next to the bath. Shave on edge of bath to turn the face to the mirror. Presumably unfinished layout. It is not known to me how the other rooms with families or couples are internally and because of this I cannot only recommend Bostokelos based on my experience with the single room where I spent the night. I would definitely recommend this room for two people traveling with one motorcycle to spend the night when the road gets too long.

It was private and good hospitality.

The restaurant and spa were not on site as advertised. But stay was very pleasant. Will use it again.

What you get is not what was advertised

With my inquiry clearly stated that it is 2 adults and 2 small children, 3 and 5 and that the children will share with us as the room has a king size bed. When we got there, the owner was very surprised as he had only prepared for 2 adults but then said that he had a room that might suit us better with 2 double beds. He did mention that they are building, but the room is already ready. Once there we find the room, the yard is a bit messy but that's understandable due to the construction. Go into the room, it's very hot with no aircon or windows. Almost certainly the room I booked had aircon. Drop off and the owner then asks if we want breakfast the next day. R120 per adult and R95 per child. No boiler in room, waiting for dstv decoder. Start getting ready for the wedding we are attending. The shower has no curtains or glass in front, entire floor, toilet and sink under water. No mats, just use towels to dry off. Started doing hair, none of the wall plugs work. Call owner and they come back, just tripped a switch in main house. Get ready for wedding, lock and drive. Ask owner if we can please get a fan for the night as it is very hot in the room and he informs later that they will leave a fan in front of our room door. After the wedding, around 10:30, we get there and no fan in front of the door. Go to bed but with the door open, just lock the security gate. Next morning everyone gets ready, showers again and everything is under water. Pack and drive to go eat breakfast. If I pay R430 for breakfast, I expect at least something where I can choose what I eat or a buffet breakfast. My husband and I get an omelette with tomato and onions and cheese, 5 tiny sausages, a slice of toast and a box of juice. Pay extra for coffee. Children get some scrambled eggs and a slice of toast and a box of juice. Bitterly disappointed. I understand that they have built and so on but after all I said in my original booking that there are children. Room is not at all as shown on website or what was sent to me on website

Fantastic hospitality and excellent service.

Mattresses on beds may only be replaced in the near future.

It was not what the advertisement said.

The place has potential. Maintenance is needed! Everything is there but a lot of it does not work properly! Water pressure was a bog frustration.

The pool was not working, the place was not the same as the pictures on the web page. Not clean.

The Jacuzzi was nice. The place was not clean, ants everywhere. The bed springs poke through and very uncomfortable. The pool was out of order. The place where one lives is not the same place as on the website. The food was very nice from Stonewall Cafe.

The noise and privacy was a challenge.

The first night we did not sleep because the person in the room above us made a noise on the wooden floor. Second night we were upgraded to another house. Bed was terribly uncomfortable and the TV stayed on all night in the main house. Again, we couldn't get any sleep.
