Ek het lekker gebly - net die paar goed wat bietjie krap.

Die gastehuis se naam is nie aangedui aan die buitekant nie. Daar is geen parkeerplek in die straat nie en jy moet eers die mense bel en wag dat iemand uitkom. My kamer het geen seep, ook nie skottelgoedseep en koffie gehad nie. Wel groot hoeveelhede tee en Cremora. Daar was ook geen ekstra warm komberse nie en ek moes vir alles eers vra. Ek dink ek sal volgende keer dalk 'n ander plek probeer.

We had a good stay.

The owner was very helpful and willing to adjust our stay as we changed our room last minute. We enjoyed our stay as it was close to a lot of amenities.

Presies wat ons nodig gehad het, vinnige heen en weer kuier van Pretoria af! Picobella Italiaanse restaurant paar meter van gastehuis en 'n moet besoek! Lekkerste pizzas!

A very enjoyable and relaxing stay.

I stayed in the 'Jasmine' room for 3 nights while attending a chess tournament at nearby UJ during December 2024 and experienced a very relaxing and enjoyable stay at Mellville Quarters. I was also made to feel at home by the welcoming host. Situated in a nice, secluded garden environment with a pool and away from the street, the unit is tastefully decorated, well maintained and clean, with all the necessary cooking utensils included. I was especially fond of the induction heating stove plate and am now looking to buy one for myself. On the downside, this area of Joburg unfortunately experienced an almost complete water shutdown for 72 hours during my stay, but the guest house made more than sufficient drinking and washing water available to me. The air conditioner was also a great plus, as Joburg was experiencing a heat wave during this time. The undercover parking, just off the main street, provided sufficient shelter during a sudden thunderstorm and the sturdy electric gate ensured peace of mind. All in all, a very nice stay. I can recommend this guest house and would like to stay here again myself should the opportunity arise.

Ons het 2 aande oorgebly en die feit dat dit diere vriendelik is het dit vir ons baie gemaklik gemaak. Die eienaars was baie hulpvaardig en vriendelik en die plekkie pragtig, veilig en 'n baie goeie ligging. Daar is selfs voorsienning gemaak met liggies gedurende "loadshedding". Sal beslis weer daar oorbly.

Ons het lekker gebly, dankie. Daar was nie melk vir koffie of tee nie, maar ons het die oom gevra vir melk, en hy het vir ons gegee. Baie mooi buite sitplek, en daar is 'n groot swembad.

Never staying here again.

Despite having made reservations well in advance and communicated my arrival time to the host, I encountered numerous issues that significantly marred my stay. Firstly, upon calling the host at 3:12 pm to inform them of my imminent arrival within 30 to 45 minutes, I was shocked to receive a call back at 3:24 pm informing me that my room had been given away to another guest. This lack of organization and disregard for my reservation is unacceptable. Furthermore, upon arrival at 4:03 pm, I was presented with two alternative rooms, Jasmine and Morning Glory. As the Lavender room, which I initially booked, was not available, I reluctantly settled for the Jasmine room, despite it not meeting the sleeping arrangements for three people as originally booked. This forced my mother and I to share a bed, compromising our comfort and privacy. In addition to the inadequate room allocation, the amenities provided were subpar. The shower took an excessive amount of time to produce hot water, resulting in a sudden rush of scalding water that caused injury. Moreover, we were provided with only one towel and a floor towel, restricting our ability to maintain personal hygiene effectively. The lack of basic provisions, such as sugar, and the inconvenience of having to request the WiFi password directly from the host further compounded our dissatisfaction. Furthermore, the intrusion of the cleaning staff attempting to enter our room while we were still sleeping is a breach of privacy and unacceptable hospitality standards. Additionally, the design flaw of having a glass bedroom door exposed us to constant garden lights throughout the night, disrupting our sleep quality and overall comfort. Despite the offer of a discounted rate for the inconveniences faced, I firmly believe that my experience at The Melville Quarters was a waste of both time and money. I urge you to address these issues promptly to ensure that future guests do not endure similar grievances. I expect a prompt and satisfactory resolution to this matter. Please acknowledge receipt of this complaint and provide assurance that corrective measures will be taken to prevent such occurrences in the future.

Enjoyed our stay in the Jasmine room. Very lovely and cozy. Above all else, the staff were extremely pleasant and welcoming!

Convenient for my purposes and I will book next time when in JHB.

Constructive criticism: No soap at all in the bathroom. Two low-voltage ceiling lights blew - especially in the bathroom which made the shower very dark. The shower door needs to be re-aligned as it was difficult to open. Otherwise a happy stay.

Die eienaar, Pierre, was baie behulpsaam - het selfs saam met ons gery om ons te gaan wys waar die naaste winkels en restaurante is. Kan met 'n geruste hart die gastehuis aanbeveel.
