Other things to note is a R100 Ndlovumzi gate fee is charged per car and only cash is accepted. The contribution goes towards maintaining animal welfare and the diversity of wildlife.
Braai wood is on sale at Thornhill. The removal of firewood and other fauna and flora on the reserve is prohibited.
Day trips in an open safari vehicle to the Kruger National Park or Panorama Route through the Blyde River Canyon can be arranged on request. Pick-up and drop-off are at Thornhill by an experienced guide. Also on offer is a cultural village tour and local village cuisine.
From the main road R527, there is a dirt road 10 km long to the main gate. It is a windy road with an average speed of 40 km. Once at the main gate, the dirt road continues to Thornhill, and the distance is a lot shorter. 80% of the dirt road inside the reserve is rocky and bumpy but a light motor car can be used. Only 20% of the dirt road inside the reserve require a 4x4 Vehicle. These are 4x4 only. The roads are clearly marked with signposts.
