Description
Triton Dive Charters & Lodge is situated in Sodwana Bay on KwaZulu Natal's North Coast and offers accommodation in a natural pine forest, just far enough off the beaten track to ensure peace and tranquillity.
Accommodation ranges from double chalets, some of which are en-suite, to fully equipped 2 bedroom self-catering units neatly spaced around the premises to ensure maximum privacy. The rooms are airy and spacious. Ablution block facilities are available to guests, and you can even shower under a huge Umdoni tree. Guests have access to an equipped communal kitchen and a spacious braai area. Self-catering houses are set apart from the rest of the camp and have access to their own braai area and parking. Guests in the self-catering houses also have access to the communal kitchen and the spacious braai area. All units are equipped with linen and bath towels, mosquito nets, and fans. Some units have tea and coffee making facilities, and the en-suite units have complimentary soap and shampoo. Wi-Fi access is also available to guests at a minimal cost. Triton Dive Lodge facilities also include a shady decked swimming pool area for cooling off during the day, a lounge and curio shop. Scuba diving courses (beginner to technical) and scuba diving charters are also offered at Triton Dive Lodge to all the reefs in Sodwana Bay.
Please take note that there is a 1.3 km sand road between the tar road turn-off and the lodge. There is also a 4x4 and 2x4 road, during some months of the year which can become a challenge to drive as it has deep sand in some places. The road is not suitable for very low sedans. Kindly call the lodge to find out the condition of the road.
The Sodwana Bay coastline is unspoilt and endless sandy white beaches slope into the clear warm waters of the Indian Ocean, offering a tropical underwater paradise. Sodwana Bay is situated within the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park between St Lucia and Lake Sibaya and lies adjacent to Africa's southern-most coral reefs. Other than scuba diving, visitors to the area can also take part in fishing, boating, bird watching and hiking. iSimangaliso Wetland Park is less than a 10-minute drive away, where visitors can scuba dive, snorkel and take part in a turtle tour. Micro lighting, quad biking and horse riding are also offered in Sodwana Bay. Lake Sibaya is close by and is the largest freshwater lake in Southern Africa. Other attractions in the surrounding area include Tembe Elephant Park, Ndumo Game Reserve, and Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve.
