A lovely experience overall, at budget rates!

Directions were clear and easy to follow. The surroundings were pleasant with convenient walks in a natural environment. Our host was friendly and helpful.

Pleasant, well located accommodation.

I was in Cape Town for work. Although small for two people, the accommodation was very pleasant and had a good outside area that can be used in good weather. It is well located with easy access to various amenities. A good place for walking. The unit that we were in had poor WiFi connectivity, and you had to go outside to connect. Once connected, the connection seemed to hold.

Ek glo min mense weet van die waterstraat-dorpie en dis om met 'n trapbootjie oral heen te vaar. Lesley is 'n dierbare gasvroutjie, wat mens sommer dadelik tuis laat voel. Plekkie is pragtig, goed toegerus en silwerskoon. Dis ook gerieflik naby aan Muizenberg se pragtige strand en hope eetplekkies. Definitief aan te beveel.

Fantastic.

The stay was wonderful. The scenery is beautiful, it's nice and peaceful as well with bird life swimming past the patio. At night, you can hear the fish jumping out of the water. There is a nice paddle boat that can be used, which made the stay even more spectacular.

Beautiful views, quiet, just what I needed.

Lokasie van Waterways is "regtig great" maar die akkommodasie "nie te great nie".

Die lokasie self is baie great en die akkommodasie het 'n regtig mooi ingang en onderboom parkeerplek, baie mooi uitsig van die stoep af (wanneer die water nie vol algea goed is nie - nie op die foto nie) maar ja, daar is 'n hele paar goed wat moet opgeneem word met die eienaar. Ons het gereël om die eerste dag 08H00 in te boek, maar ons was so 'n halfuur laat. Toe ek bel om dit met haar te bespreek, weier sy dat ons kom (alhoewel sy eintlik daar bly en reg vir ons was vir die 08H00 inboek). Mag ons nie meer kom tot 14H00 (gewone tyd - sonder 'n verduideliking) nie, wat vir ons heeltemal omver gooi met beplanning ens. Ons wou eintlik daar en dan kanselleer, ons was so teleurgesteld. Die woonstel se banke was seker 40 jaar oud, baie hard en houterig wat uiters ongemaklik was, en die probleem was dit is die enigste plek waar 'n mens kan sit in die aande. Die baie klein waaier/fan wat verskaf was vir die sitplek area en kamer was so klein en swak dat as jy nie voor dit sit nie, voel jy niks nie. Die haardroër het die een aand opgeblaas in my vrou se hande, en sy was baie gelukkig om nie seer te kry of 'n skok te kry nie. Toe ek dit aan die eienaar die volgende oggend rapporteer, was die reaksie een van "Oh well, I am not going to replace it", nie eens gevra of my vrou okay is nie, dit was vir my baie swak. Ek sal nie weer daar gaan nie, al was die lokasie mooi en die klein "peddle boat" baie nice om op die water te gaan. Te veel klein dinge was nie vir ons lekker nie. Daar was net plastiekstoele buite in plek van nice gemaklike buitestoele waar 'n mens kan gemaklik buite braai en die sonsondergang kan kyk, baie "cheap" alternatief. Daar is nie eens 'n plek vir die mikrogolf nie, dit is op die sitkamerhoektafel by die banke wat regtig nie lekker was nie. Die agterglydeur hak vas elke liewe keer as jy dit sluit en oopmaak, iets wat sekerlik lankal herstel kon word. Ons het nie eens die laaste dag/aand daar geslaap - spandeer nie, sonder om eers te worry ons mors 'n aand se akkommodasie nie, eerder by familie oorgeslaap. Jammer, maar ek sê wat op my hart is sodat julle weet, help nie ek blaas hulle trompet nie, maar daar is soveel goed om te verbeter. Ons betaal baie geld om daar te gaan bly, maar ek dink die eienaar het die plek so lank sy hoef nie te worry oor goed te "upgrade" en te verbeter of beter te maak nie, want niemand kla nie of sê wat fout is nie. Amazing and tranquil.

I would recommend if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. An absolute gem of a place with scenic views over the lake. We will definitely visit again in the near future.

Hard to improve on, as the location is also excellent, near Muizenberg.

The view over the lake (Zandvlei) from the Off-Water Unit where we stayed is exquisite, and with a patio at two separate levels we spent most of our time there, whether eating, drinking tea or sundowners, reading, or just taking in the watery panorama. The bedroom is big enough and the bathroom quite spacious. The host is a wonderful person, with a great sense of humour, attention to detail, and concern about anything we might need. Add to all of this the Park Island Nature Reserve 200 metres away, where one can go for long walks and enjoy all the wetland birds and flora. Marina da Gama is like a self-contained quiet oasis, isolated from the traffic and suburbs around.

Host was very nice and helpful.

Very nice place, the only thing that put me off is that you have to walk through the toilet/bathroom with your food if you want to go sit outside to prepare or eat food on the balcony.

The lack of WiFi in the room makes working at night difficult. There is no hairdryer and the towels provided are small bath towels.

Die buitewyke van die Marina staan in antitese met die lushof wat jy vind wanneer jy die bewaarde-area betree. Jy kan stap, roei en visvang in die kompleks en die lagoon. Die eienaar was beskikbaar en die inboek was maklik. Die woonstel was gerieflik, skoon en het alles gehad wat nodig was. Die uitsig oor die Marina was asemrowend. Die voëllewe was 'n plesier om te aanskou. Die bekostigbaarheid van daardie stukkie paradys maak dat ons vir seker weer daar sal bly.

Quiet and beautiful setting.

Waterways is a great location for a medium to short-term stay. The venue is lovely and reasonably equipped (apart from no plugs in the bedroom of our unit). Friendly, helpful owners/management. Highly recommended and ideal for a couple looking for peace and quiet while visiting Cape Town.

A 2-week work play getaway.

This was our second stay at Waterways — our first time in the Budget Flat. Unfortunately, the weather was really unkind during our stay, so my dream of pedalo-ing around the islands was not realized. The Budget Flat offers an outdoor space on the water's edge, which we could also sadly not make the most of due to the weather. Lesley was a great hostess and made sure that our stay was comfortable and clean!

Eienaar was baie vriendelik en behulpsaam. Plek was baie netjies, ons het die stilte geniet asook die asemrowende uitkyk oor die water. Sal beslis weer in warmer dae boek. Loadshedding was 'n problem, nie genoeg voorsiening vir loadshedding.

Our hostess, Lesley, was wonderful and helpful, and our units were really lovely and comfortable. The location was convenient and central to where we needed to be.

It was exotic, safe, comfortable, neat and exploring.

The owner is very caring and her hospitality is excellent everything you need is available, toilet paper, shower gel, coffee, tea, sugar, utensils even matches and even a paddle boat I must tell the owner, Leslet, knows hospitality even plugs and a hairdryer, very nice.

It was good, the area was nice, however, it wasn't what I expected.

The picture on the website shows that you can sit outside and braai but it was just a room with a kitchen and bathroom and you couldn't sit outside and enjoy the sun, a bit disappointed.

Demanding hostess. Furnishings dead.

A good host is one that you don't have to interact with. Everything should work without long explanations. Lesley demanded to know exactly how late we will arrive several times. It's like it's not convenient for her to have guests. The unit was fairly well equipped but the furnishings and bedding are old and could do with an upgrade. Pillows are like pancakes. TV worked the 1st night but then Lesley came into our room when we were out the next day. They apparently had to fix the TV, which then didn't work anymore. Maybe some mosquito repellant will be appreciated. The first night we were eaten alive.

Was 'n pragtige plek en baie netjies. Al wat aandag nodig het is die wifi. Mens kan dit net buite op die stoep opvang. So as die weer sleg is, is daar nie wifi nie. Of as jy nie buite wil sit nie.

Gasvrou vriendelik en behulpsaam, mooi plek, net 'n bietjie klein en beknop vir 2 persone.

We had a wonderful time at Waterways. The flat has everything you need and is ideal for nature lovers. We were right on the water and it was great escaping the hustle and bustle of the city.

Short stay to take a friend to the airport.

Stayed for a few days before taking a friend to the airport. Lovely to wake up to a view of the water in the morning. Just a note to Lesley - possibly trim branches off the trees where we park as we broke the ariel on the roof of the car manoeuvring under them and 2 small bedside tables would not go amiss. Other than that, a perfect holiday stay.

Lekker naby alles in die suide. Soms word daar WiFi geadverteer maar dis 'n twyfelagtige konneksie, maar Waterways het behoorlike WiFi. Sal volgende keer vir langer wil bly om die eiland te verken en meer te stap.

Clean and neat. However, no privacy.

False advertising. The pictures are misleading as the house is not on the lake. Invasion of privacy told that there is a closet behind the mirror, but turns out to be a separate door to the chalet where the owner entered without permission while we were there.

Not what I expected but it was okay.

It was okay, just wasn't what I expected, but our stay was well.

Pragtige plek, sal enige tyd weer gaan.

Ek en my vrou het die plek geniet, dit was pragtig, die water is naby en jy kan met 'n bootjie vaar en stap na die eiland en dis veilig, en Leslie het ons welkom laat voel. Al was die weer nie so lekker nie, maar ons het dit geniet.

Baie netjies en ligging baie gerieflik.

Gasvrou het ons sommer dadelik verwelkom. Sy ook mooi veduidelik waar alles is en hoe dit werk.

Short 3-day stay to visit family also based in Marina da Gama.

We stayed in the 'budget flat' which is very basic, but fine if you're just looking for a place to sleep. The Wi-Fi is fast provided you are on the patio.

Dis ń baie lekker plekkie. Die parkering is wel nie onderdak nie en voertuig moet buite onder boom parkeer, dit kan dalk ń probleem veroorsaak. Skoon, netjies, ons kon nie vir ń mooier plekkie gevra het vir ons eerste keer in die Kaap nie.

Booked budget accommodation.

Very small space, but if the weather is good, there is a beautiful area overlooking the lagoon where you could spend time at. Maintenance is needed. A coat of paint, door handles on the inside of the bathroom door. Wifi very poor in the flat - you need to go outside for reception. The bedding needs to be replaced - it is very worn and has a little hole in it. No top sheet. There is no access control, but a guard standing at the entrance who allows anyone in anyway. The TV is a small box TV on a side table next to the bed. Would be great if a flat-screen could be mounted on wall so that side table can be used.

Waterways is a great place to stay if you want peace and quiet. I was in Cape Town for business for work, but it is also a really nice place to stay for vacation. Lesley, the host, is super friendly, helpful and humorous. The apartment I stayed in is nearly located to a shopping centre (10 minute walk) and walking to the sea takes about 35 minutes.

The apartment is super clean, the bed is very comfortable, cooking facilities are sufficient and the bathroom is spacious. What I especially liked was the magnificent view on the river (Vlei) and the mountains. There was also a possibilty to use Lesly's kanoe or rowing boat. Waterways is a great get away.

The lady wasn't very approachable.

Well we were explained about things that was common knowledge. When we left the place at 09:30 we were told to wait outside, as in literally outside, baggage and all on the road as Lesley needed to sanitise the place and our check out was 10:00. Would've liked it if she could've done some upgrades, a very old Tv. So no thanks I will not be going there again, not worth the money.
