Alpetra Nature Reserve
Description
Tucked away in the bush, the thatched roof cabin with canvas walls, overlooks the dam and can accommodate 4 people. The cabin is furnished with 2 double beds, and has an outdoor bathroom fitted with a shower. Hot water is provided by a wood-fired donkey hot water system. For convenience, linen and bath towels are provided. The cabin is fitted with solar lighting and lamps are provided, and does not have a kitchen but a gas operated fridge, and cutlery and crockery is provided. Guests please need to bring their own cooler bag, and all food needs to be prepared on the open fire. Two bags of ice, and firewood is provided, and more can be purchased at reception. Guests will park at the main camp, and will be driven to the Lakeside Cabin; self-driving is unfortunately not allowed. For a comfortable stay, it is suggested that guests pack as if they are going on a camping weekend. There is limited to no cellphone reception at the cabin, and fishing is allowed in the dam.

Ideal for 12 people, the lodge is situated a distance from the main camp for privacy. The secluded lodge comprises 2 wings with 2 bedrooms each, 1 bathroom, a kitchen, a dining area, and a lounge. Two of the bedrooms are furnished with a double bed, and a single bed, and the other 2 bedrooms each contain 3 single beds. The bathroom is fitted with a bath, and a shower, and 2 outdoor showers are also available for use. The kitchen is equipped with a stove and oven, a microwave, a fridge, cutlery and crockery, pots and pans, as well as tea- and coffee-making facilities, and meals can be enjoyed at the dining table. Guests can relax in the lounge which has a fireplace, and a TV. A heated pool and a lovely boma is available for exclusive use of guests booking the Buffelsfontein Lodge.
