Description

At De Oude Herberg Country Lodge Kenhardt is a spacious Cape Dutch style house situated on the edge of the town of Kenhardt, offering a view over the garden, the town, and the surrounding area. The house was built in the early 1940’s as a school boarding house.

Accommodation is offered in 19 bedrooms including en-suite double bedrooms with private entrances, an en-suite family room, en-suite twins rooms with private entrances, and budget rooms. All rooms are equipped with air-conditioning, a TV with DStv, and a desk. Guests have access to braai facilities, a laundry service, an entertainment room with a pool table, dart board, chess, and a flat screen TV, a self-catering kitchen, and a dining room. Off-street parking is provided and breakfast is available on request. Ablution facilities are available for camping and caravanning, and there is also a landing area for helicopters. Guests have access to the spacious gardens, as well as the verandah, both ideal spots for bird watching.

At De Oude Herberg Country Lodge Kenhardt is set on 1.5 hectares of land, and free from any traffic noise. The little town of Kenhardt is 120 km from Upington, the largest town in the area. Visit Quiver Tree Forest, approximately 8 km south of Kenhardt on the main route to Cape Town. Some of these trees have special formed weaver birds nests. Quiver Tree Forest can be visited by appointment only, and can only be accessed by 4X4. Other attractions in the area include The Giant Camelthorn Tree which is about 500 to 600 years old, and the Verneukpan where Sir Malcolm Campbell tried, in Bluebird 1, to set a new world land-speed record in 1929.
