Description
The history of the cottage on Middelplaas is unknown. It was probably many decades ago used as a residence for the people looking after the farm for the owners who lived elsewhere in the valley. Over the years it became very run down before it was renovated by the present owners into a cottage with the most beautiful view over the olive orchard, veld and mountains. Middelpaas can accommodate up to 4 guests and comprises 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, and an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area. The first bedroom contains a double bed and the second bedroom contains 2 single beds. The 2 rooms share a bathroom that has a shower. The kitchen is equipped with all the required utensils, including cutlery, crockery, kettle, toaster, microwave, fridge-freezer and a stove and oven. There is a 4-seater dining table. The lounge is air-conditioned and features comfortable seating and an indoor braai fireplace. Free Wi-Fi is available. The cottage has a sheltered patio with outdoor seating overlooking the veld and mountains. There is a circular braai on the grass adjacent to the patio. Braai grids, fire tongs and a potjie pot are available. There is a washing machine available in the nearby shed. Middelplaas is only a 3 minute walk from the private picnic site next to the river.

Die Bokwagtershuis, ‘goat keeper’s house’, was originally built during the 19th century as accommodation for Matjiesvlei’s goat keeper. His task was to tend to all the goats of the different farmers in the valley. The house has been authentically restored to maintain its atmosphere, with addition of modern amenities. The cottage can accommodate up to 6 guests and contains 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area. The first bedroom contains a double bed, and the second and third bedrooms each contain 2 single beds. The first bathroom contains a shower, and the second bathroom contains a shower and a bath. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge-freezer, stove and oven, microwave, kettle, toaster, a dishwasher and a washing machine. The dining area contains an indoor braai fireplace and a 6-seater dining table. The cosy lounge contains seating and a wood-burner stove for heating in winter. There is an air-conditioner for cooling in summer. Free Wi-Fi internet access is available. The living area has stacker doors that open to a patio with outdoor furniture. On the grass, there is a circular braai area. Braai grids, fire tongs and a potjie pot are available.

Later owners turned the houses into stables. It has now been restored into a comfortable cottage with a beautiful view of the valley and mountains; it is next to the farm dam. The cottage can accommodate up to 6 guests and comprises 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area. The first bedroom contains a double bed and a shower en suite with a toilet and washbasin. The second and third bedrooms each contain 2 single beds. The second bathroom has a bath, shower and toilet. The kitchen is equipped with a stove and oven, fridge-freezer, microwave, kettle, and a dishwasher, as well as an indoor braai fireplace. There is a washing machine in the lobby. The dining area contains an 8-seater dining table. The lounge is air-conditioned and features comfortable seating and a Dover stove for heating in winter. Free Wi-Fi is available. There is a spacious patio with seating and a built-in braai. There is a circular braai on the grass adjacent to the patio. Braai grids, fire tongs and a potjie pot are available.
