The Lowveld Escarpment is created where the inner Southern African plateau with a mean altitude of 1 200 m, abruptly plunges down to the Lowveld with sheer drops of up to 1 000 m.
The Panorama Route to the Blyde River Canyon offers awe-inspiring views of forest-clad cliffs, canyons and plains as far as the eye can see. An average annual rainfall of 1 270 mm along the Escarpment makes for magnificent waterfalls.
Attractions in the nearby vicinity include God's Window, Pinnacle, Bourke's Luck Potholes, The Blyde River Canyon, Kruger National Park and many well-known waterfalls such as Berlin Falls, Lisbon Falls, Lone Creek, Bridal Veil, MacMac- and Forest Falls.
