Many thanks for taking the time to review your stay at one of the holiday homes we manage.
It was unfortunate that you only discovered that the gas had run out late at night - so we only got the message at 8.30am on the following morning.
The owner of the house lives in London and employs us as agents for obvious reasons.
We manage ten holiday homes in Witsand - which have all been fitted with gas hobs and recharging lamp bulbs to cope with the load shedding problems. As soon as we had found out it was your house that ran out of gas, a new bottle was delivered by 9am.
You may have noticed during your stay in Witsand that it is a small coastal village so we don't have 24 hour service like cities do. The shops close at 5pm , restaurants at 11pm and our office is only open 12 hours a day (which is four hours longer than most offices).
We repay the refundable damage deposits as soon as the houses have been cleaned. You received yours two days after departure, an hour after the house was cleaned.

You will be pleased to know that a new sink unit has been ordered and will be fitted soon - we do most of the house maintenance jobs during the winter months as its simply to busy during the tourism season here.
We manage 100 beds in Witsand at many different holiday homes - the owners of the houses obviously want a refundable damage deposit paid - so we are obliged to charge one. 99% of all the deposits are refunded with 5 days of the guests leaving and after the house has been cleaned. we refunded you the full R1000. so not quite sure the reason that you were not happy about the arrangement?
Clearly we do not have time to check every item of furniture, bedding, kitchen items etc. as guests arrive and leave - we would need to employ two extra staff to do so - which of course would increase our rates for the holiday homes and we try very hard to keep rates low so that more people can enjoy Witsand.

Many thanks for pointing out to us the water problem. We have since discovered there was a blockage and the problem is now resolved and water flowing fast and freely. If you had informed us of the problem during your stay, we could have had it resolved immediately for you.

As for the recycling: We try to apply sustainable tourism initiatives to all the houses we manage in Witsand.
