There are few things that beat the beauty of Cape Town, which is why if you’re looking for a way to spoil your partner, we’ve got several date ideas that we’re sure they’ll love!

1. Steam Train Ride

Steam Train Katie by Roseanna McBain

Meet Katie, a steam train beauty run by Atlantic Rail which traverses the route to Simon’s Town, as well as to the lush winelands of Stellenbosch. She’s one of our favourite romantic options for a full-day outing. Book online and choose your day adventure – whether that includes boarding the train and getting to wander freely for an hour or two at your destination, or opting to enjoy a classy lunch along with your memorable ride. 2. Tokai Forest Market

The beauty of a walk through Tokai forest is undeniable, and it’s a perfect spot for picnics as dog walkers, families, horse riders and cyclists pass you. Visit the area just past The Range on a Saturday morning or Wednesday evening and you’ll get to enjoy the companionship of market goers who browse fresh produce, toys, freshly cooked meals, and artisanal items.

3. Cable Car Ride up Table Mountain

Let’s be honest, the adrenaline rush you get from the 360° view as you ascend the mountainside in the Cape Town Cable Car is pretty thrilling, especially when coupled with the views over the city. In fact, this is one of the top romantic things to do purely because of it’s ‘wow’ factor. Ensure you stop in at the restaurant at the top where you can grab a a glass of champagne, a brunch or a light supper, dependent on the time of day you go up. The Sunset Special is currently running is is the perfect romantic surprise for your loved one.

4. Picnic in the Company Gardens and feed squirrels

The Company Gardens of Cape Town are a haven for the local squirrel population who are well fed by visitors who tend to buy peanuts from a vendor near the entrance. Pack a picnic basket if the weathers nice and relax on the lush lawns or stroll around and view the various flora and statues.

5. Sunset viewing on Signal Hill

Signal Hill is an iconic sundowner spot, though we’d recommend that you visit it with a group of friends as opposed to going it alone for safety reasons.

6. Browse the Waterfront and do a Harbour Cruise

V&A Waterfront by Lauren Morling

The V&A Waterfront is another popular spot for couples who wander the wharf’s hand in hand. Go on the wheel, visit the Aquarium, browse the craft market, sup on sushi, or sip a strong coffee from one of the waterside cafes – a harbour cruise is also a fantastic way to see the sights of Cape Town from a new vantage point.

7. Breakfast in Simon’s Town and tour the penguin colony

Penguin colonies in marine reserves close by.

With a colony of penguins, world-class restaurants and plenty of beach space to enjoy, Simon’s Town is a natural choice for a romantic day out  – especially if you pack in some sunscreen and your swimming costumes and opt to spend the day at Boulders Beach.

8. A Romantic night under the stars at the Galileo Open Air Cinema

The Galileo Open Air Cinema has venues at the Hillcrest Quarry, Kirstenbosch Gardens, V&A Waterfront, Winelands and a special Valentines Day screening at Nooitgedaght Wine Estate.
